Who is Bella Barbosa?
Bella (BAY-uh) Barbosa is a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor at Action News Now, KHSL/KNVN, the CBS and NBC affiliates in Chico, California.
Bella, a Sacramento native, moved across the country to attend American University in Washington, D.C., where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.
Bella’s passion for storytelling began in high school, where she produced, anchored, and technical directed for her school’s broadcast news program, KBFT.
Previously, Bella interned at CNN on The Chris Wallace Show, where she wrote VOs, created graphics, and pulled clips. She also interned at CBS Sacramento KOVR/KMAX, shadowing reporters, assignment editors, and producers. There, she pitched stories, conducted interviews, and wrote and edited her own stories.
At American University, Bella covered stories from the implementation of a contraceptive vending machine on campus to the impact of Gen Z voters casting their 2024 presidential election ballots in protest of the War in Gaza.
Among Bella's favorite stories she has covered are the Town of Paradise's efforts to address the lack of rural healthcare access after the Camp Fire destroyed the town's only hospital, as well as statewide politics from utility-caused wildfire survivors' lobbying for compensation from utility companies to Glenn County farmers' concerns over Proposition 50 redrawing congressional maps.
In her free time, Bella enjoys scrapbooking, baking, and spending time with her miniature poodle, Albondigas.
